OK – so this part has changed. Quite a bit in fact.

‘Eh?’ we hear you say.

And… well…. its a long story. It mostly involves Lucy’s UK visa status, horror stories about friends who have married in the UK and been told that their marriage is not ‘legal for immigration purposes’, the UK Home Office’s demands that Lucy ask for ‘permission to Wed’ (read pay a large sum of money for permission to pay an even larger sum of money to change visa categories). And our realization that, actually, Australia is a very beautiful place. Oh, we also quite like the Australian civil marriage service.

Don’t worry – we promise to have a big party in the UK at some point. And you are all more than welcome to come and visit us… stay on our couch, eat our food, insist that we drive you around in our car and generally take advantage of the fact that we live close to beautiful castles and fantastic sailing.

OK – so details.

Wedding Ceremony: The Old Treasury Building, Sunday 21 December, Spring Street, Melbourne. 12:00 Noon.

Champagne, Strawberries and Photos: The Treasury Gardens. 12:30 – 2:00.

Traditional Afternoon Tea: The Hotel Windsor, 111 Spring Street, Melbourne. 2:00 – 5:00.

We suggest you have a late breakfast. Afternoon tea is said to be ’substantial’ – but we would hate you to faint!

There are some very pretty cafes on the corner of Little Collins Street and Spring Street… about 50 meters from the Old Treasury Building. If everyone is feeling social, it might be fun to meet for a hot breakfast before the action starts. (Note here: Lucy will be BUSY. Having her hair tamed. So you need to organise this part yourselves).
