Wish List
What we want MOST is for you to come and wish us luck on our wedding day. Really. We’re not just saying it.
BUT if you are one of those old-fashioned types and just can’t bear to attend a wedding without buying a gift, here are a few ideas:
We aren’t sure which hemisphere we live in, don’t own a house and are likely to move at least twice in any 12 month period. If you can be clever and find something that is light, small, useful and very very expensive then by all means go for it.
Alternatively, we are both dreaming of the day we will be able to settle down in one spot and set up home properly. And who couldn’t do with a nice honeymoon? A contribution to these causes would be very welcome.
We have been frightened away from online gift registries by the recent spate of businesses going bust, and taking gift money with them. So, we have decided that we should stick with old-fashioned approaches, write a few suggestions, and encourage people to bring a card or a small present to our actual wedding. Remember, we have to fly back to the UK with all of our loot… so please don’t give us anything big or very heavy (unless it is bullion, in which case, the bigger and heavier, the better).
Wish List:
A Honeymoon – we have been eying off skiing packages in Austria. You could help us along our way with some travellers cheque and a note suggesting which part of the honeymoon you would like your contribution to go towards. We will need things like skiing lessons, ski hire, lift passes and the odd sleigh ride in the snow. You can use your imagination!
Something for our walls – Perhaps a nice print, beautiful photograph or sketch, that we could get framed when we get back to the UK.
Something for our table or home – But please, think very carefully about glass, crystal or China. If you would like to get us something for the table that isn’t so easily transported, why not try one of the online stores in the UK?
Ben would also like a lion, or a tiger. Real ones. They would have to be small so that he can teach them to eat robbers, bogons and politicians but not Lucy or anyone friendly.

Bed linen with square pillows or rectangular ones? This is a tough question worth being examined thoroughly… I am not saying that I will go for this option though…
Your blog is fantastic and shows how commited you are! I look forward to meeting your friends and familly. Best regards to all the readers.

Hi Anne…
We weren’t really expecting anyone to look at this part of the website just yet!
You are right, however. Square v. rectangular pillows is a very big question.
I think square pillows are very classy, myself. And, as we are getting married so close to continental Europe, some lovely continental pillow covers seem very appropriate.

Lucy says: I have always wanted a pet hedge-hog. They look very cute. And they are prickly and don’t taste very good… so if we did get a lion or a tiger we wouldn’t need to worry about accidental eatings
Hang in there, Nic. YOUR wedding looks so well organised it turned me purple with envy and prompted us both to think ‘oh… maybe we should get our act together and organise things!’ XX
